Play Therapy is a variety of techniques used to help people learn new skills and work through difficulties in their lives. Because of the way children learn, play therapy is one of the most effective ways to help children as young as 2 years old with emotional, behavioral, and family difficulties. Play Therapy is a research based therapy, meaning people have done studies to prove the effective use of play therapy. One of the basic principles of play therapy is that people have a way of healing themselves with the right support, tools, and time. Play Therapy sessions can look like play but they are a process of sharing a story without word, working through feelings unable to be explained, or learning skill that can’t be attained from a book.
